Training Course at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon on Artificial Intelligence As part of the activities of the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, the Department of Physiology organized a training course entitled “Artificial Intelligence: Applications Between Empowerment and Challenges.” The course aimed to highlight the importance of artificial intelligence and its applications across various fields, with a focus on its responsible and safe use in academic and educational environments. Assistant Lecturer Riyam Faisal Majeed delivered a detailed explanation of the concept of artificial intelligence and its major types, clarifying the differences between narrow AI, general AI, and superintelligent AI, and presenting practical examples of its applications in medicine, education, cybersecurity, and other fields. Meanwhile, Assistant Lecturer Raflaa Helmi Hamed discussed the advantages, disadvantages, and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence, as well as its impact on data privacy and decision-making. She emphasized the importance of conscious and responsible use of these technologies in a way that supports the educational process and enhances students’ self-learning skills. The course concluded with an interactive discussion among participants regarding the future of artificial intelligence in education and how it can be employed to improve teaching and assessment methods. In conclusion, the course recommended the careful and well-planned use of artificial intelligence technologies in education, in a manner that contributes to developing an interactive learning environment that supports creativity and critical thinking among students.
