Psychological Guidance Division
The Unit's Tasks:
1. Developing an Annual Plan: Create and implement an annual plan for educational guidance and psychological support within the college throughout the academic year.
2. Assigning Psychological Counselors: Designate a psychological counselor from among the faculty for each student across all academic levels to provide moral and psychological supervision, while ensuring the confidentiality of the information shared with them.
3. Planning and Coordination: Plan, monitor, and coordinate all psychological and social activities, events, and programs executed in the college, whether initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education or other governmental or private entities
4. Conducting Awareness Seminars: Organize seminars and lectures to address current issues that students may face in Iraqi universities, including psychological, social, or educational challenges.
5. Identifying Common Problems: Recognize prevalent psychological and behavioral issues affecting university members (students, faculty, staff) and provide timely assistance through scientifically-based counseling interviews.
6. Supporting New Students: Assist new university students in adapting to the educational environment quickly and effectively by informing them about the unit's services and addressing their needs in coordination with student affairs.
7. Monitoring Psychological Health: Oversee cases that may suffer from psychological disorders in collaboration with specialized psychiatrists within the college.
Individual Counseling: Provide individual counseling for students facing social, educational, or psychological behavioral issues at a basic level, offering support and preventive measures to prevent the escalation of problems, with the counselor available in their office for one-on-one guidance.
9. Addressing Frequent Absences: In cases of repeated student absences, after consulting with the registration department, assess and address academic difficulties on an individual basis.
10. Organizing Seminars and Lectures: Organize seminars and lectures that address student issues with preventive and developmental objectives.
11. Ensuring Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of information shared by students with their counselors, whether personal or sensitive, and allow students the freedom to choose their educational counselor.
12. Self-Discovery Support: Assist students in discovering themselves by helping them recognize their abilities, readiness, interests, skills, and understanding the challenges they face, regardless of their nature.
13. Decision-Making Skills Development: Enhance students' decision-making abilities and encourage them to deliver awareness lectures to their peers.
14. Fostering Dialogue and Responsibility: Promote students' ability to engage in dialogue, consult with others, and express their opinions freely and responsibly.
15. Collecting Health-Related Information: Gather information about students with physical or health issues, document it in special records, and coordinate with administrative and educational entities to assist these students in adapting to university life.

The Vision of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Medicine, University of Babel, aims to excel in providing psychological support and personal and educational guidance to students. The unit seeks to contribute to the development of an educational environment that maximizes students' potential, enhances their skills, and fosters their independence.

1. Specialized Psychological Counseling: Provide specialized psychological counseling services to assist students in coping with emotional and psychological challenges they may encounter during their studies.
2. Awareness Workshops: Offer courses and seminars focused on mental health issues and social relationships, including strategies for managing them effectively.
3. Skill Development Programs: Develop programs and workshops aimed at enhancing students' critical thinking, learning, and communication skills.
