The College of Medicine at the University of Babylon, in collaboration with Marjan Teaching Hospital, organized a comprehensive scientific lecture on the latest advancements in viral hemorrhagic fever, particularly Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF). Dr. Mohammed Fadel Al-Musawi, a faculty member in the Internal Medicine Department, conducted the lecture, highlighting that CCHF is a type of viral hemorrhagic fever prevalent in Iraq, transmitted to humans through ticks. Symptoms include fever, muscle weakness, headache, diarrhea, and vomiting. While most patients recover, some may experience severe bleeding. Vulnerable groups include farmers, livestock breeders, butchers, veterinarians, doctors, and medical and nursing support staff. The lecture also emphasized preventive measures, underlining the significance of tick control and early medical consultation to reduce complications and fatalities, following Iraqi Ministry of Health protocols.
