A Seminar at University of Babylon _College of Medicine on the Role of Educational Guidance

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon, Prof. Dr. Ameen Ajeel Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Mohend Abbas Al-Shalah, and as part of the continuous education activities of the Department of Anatomy, in support of the Educational Guidance and Psychological Support Unit, an awareness seminar was held on “The Role of Educational Guidance in Facing Social Challenges.”

Prof. Dr. Rana Iyad Ghalib delivered a lecture defining educational guidance, highlighting its importance in society, and discussing the challenges students face. She also addressed various types of guidance, including educational, career, preventive, religious, and ethical guidance, explaining their purposes, significance, and how to effectively support students.

Additionally, Assistant Professor Dr. Reem Abdul Raheem outlined the objectives of educational guidance, such as professional, ethical, and social adjustment. She also discussed the role of the counselor in supporting students, the ethics of the educational guidance profession, and the importance of guidance in students’ academic and personal lives.

At the conclusion of the seminar, recommendations were made to encourage students to communicate with their counselors at the college to address their challenges. It was also suggested to conduct awareness campaigns in schools.
