Seminar at University of Babylon _College of Medicine on the Negative Impact of Drug Abuse

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ameen Ajeel Al-Yasiri, President of the University of Babylon, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohend Abbas Al-Shalah, Dean of the College of Medicine, a seminar on the negative effects of drug abuse was held as part of the ongoing education activities of the Anatomy Department and in support of the Educational Guidance and Psychological Support Unit.

Assistant Professor Dr. Reem Abdul-Raheem delivered a lecture discussing:
• What are drugs, and what is addiction?
• Types of drugs and their devastating effects on the mind, finances, and overall well-being.
• Methods of drug use, including inhalation of powdered substances, ingestion of solid pills, and consumption of liquid substances such as alcohol.

She described addiction as a deadly and destructive phenomenon, often beginning with a small dose of a white powder inhaled or injected, or the smoke of a substance perceived to bring pleasure and euphoria. However, in reality, addiction leads individuals to destruction, shattering their aspirations and negatively impacting their families and society.
