Scientific Seminar on Obesity at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Ameen Ajeel Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallah, a scientific seminar was held as part of the continuing education activities of the Departments of Anatomy and Surgery on the topic of “The Impact of Obesity on Fertility and Anesthesia.”
Dr. Rabab Zaher Mousa discussed the effects of obesity on female fertility, explaining that it disrupts hormonal balance, reduces chances of pregnancy, and increases the risk of chronic diseases that negatively affect reproductive health.
Dr. Nawras Najah highlighted the general health risks of obesity, including an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and respiratory issues.
Dr. Amani Alaa Al-Mashta addressed the challenges of anesthesia in obese patients, emphasizing that obesity affects the distribution of anesthetic drugs and increases the risk of complications during surgery.
The seminar concluded with a strong emphasis on the importance of maintaining a healthy weight to prevent these health issues.
