College of Medicine, University of Babylon Organizes a Health Awareness and Guidance Campaign at Al-Sayyida Zainab School (Peace Be Upon Her) Within the framework of community-engagement activities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, and under the direct follow-up of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, a group of faculty members and students from the College, in cooperation with the University Psychological Counseling Unit, carried out a field visit to Al-Sayyida Zainab School (peace be upon her). The initiative aimed to enhance health and psychological awareness among students and to strengthen preventive health culture within the school community. The visit included simplified awareness lectures on rabies and methods of prevention, explaining its health risks and the appropriate steps to take in cases of exposure to stray animals. On the counseling side, the specialized team delivered an awareness lecture on the causes of suicide and ways to reduce it, with emphasis on the importance of psychological support and promoting positive coping skills among students. The activity also included interactive educational segments designed to reinforce healthy behavioral practices. The visit concluded with the provision of logistical support to the school through the donation of a fully equipped first-aid kit, aimed at improving the school’s readiness to manage emergency situations. This initiative reflects the University of Babylon’s commitment to community service and the College of Medicine’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with educational institutions to help build a generation that is health-aware and well-informed.
