Faculty Member from the College of Medicine, University of Babylon Participates in the Discussion of Cardiac Imaging Research
Prof. Dr. Ouday Jasim Al-Salihi, the postgraduate studies coordinator in the Department of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, participated in the research discussion sessions for the second cohort of board students specializing in cardiac imaging studies. The sessions took place in Baghdad at the Iraqi Board for Medical Specializations, under one of the newly established fellowship programs of the board.
The title of the research was:
“Value of AVC Score by Cardiac CT in the Evaluation of Severe Valvular Aortic Stenosis: A Comparative Study.”
The research presented a scientific comparison of the role of cardiac spiral CT in diagnosing severe aortic valve stenosis by measuring aortic valve calcium (AVC) scores and comparing the results with those from advanced echocardiography.
The study was conducted at Baghdad Hospital and Ibn Al-Bitar Hospital for Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery, and it involved more than 80 patients.
The study concluded that cardiac CT plays an excellent role in diagnosing asymptomatic cases where aortic valve calcification is detected
