Under the Patronage of the College of Medicine Deanship… Department of Pharmacology Holds a Scientific Lecture on Drug and Food Interactions
As part of the activities of the Continuing Medical Education Unit, and in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education)—the Department of Pharmacology at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, organized a specialized scientific lecture entitled:
“Drug–Drug Interactions and Drug–Food Interactions”

The lecture was held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in the laboratories of the Department of Pharmacology. It witnessed active participation from faculty members and postgraduate students.

The scientific content was delivered by a distinguished group of specialized lecturers from the department:
• Assist. Prof. Dr. Rusul Ali Kazim
• Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Rashid

The lecture highlighted the importance of understanding the interactions between different medications when taken concurrently, as well as the effects of various types of food on drug absorption and efficacy within the body. This is essential to ensure optimal patient care and to minimize adverse effects resulting from inappropriate use or unrecognized interactions.

This activity is part of the College’s ongoing scientific program aimed at enhancing the competencies of teaching staff and enriching the academic knowledge of postgraduate students in line with the latest advancements in medical sciences.
