Training Workshop on Academic Writing at the College of Medicine – University of Babylon
As part of the continuing education activities of the Department of Physiology and in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, a two-day training workshop was held under the title: “Academic Writing: From Plagiarism Detection to Rewriting Skills.”
The workshop was attended by the Director of Continuing Education, Professor Dr. Elham Abbas Banyan, along with a number of faculty members and administrative staff.
Assistant Lecturer Ryam Faisal Alloush conducted a practical session using the Turnitin software, where she demonstrated how to detect plagiarism, upload files, analyze similarity percentages in reports, and interpret the results effectively.
Assistant Lecturer Wuroud Mahdi presented a hands-on demonstration on the use of academic rewriting tools, explaining how to paraphrase quoted texts in a scientifically appropriate manner that ensures academic integrity and reduces similarity scores. She also highlighted the most effective digital tools that can be utilized in this domain.
At the conclusion of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the importance of raising awareness about plagiarism risks and prevention methods, as fundamental pillars for maintaining the quality of academic work
