Scientific Debate in Anatomy at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon
In accordance with the directive of the President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Ameen Ageel Al-Yasiri, and on the occasion of the University Day, the Anatomy Department at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, organized a scientific debate involving a group of second- and third-year students. The debate was held between two teams from the first-year students, divided into groups A and B, under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Rana Iyad Ghalib.
The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallah, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Ashraf Mohammed Ali, and first-year students.
Professor Dr. Haitham Ali Al-Sayegh, the anatomy course instructor, explained that a set of diverse and comprehensive questions covering the current academic year’s curriculum for first-year students was prepared. The students competed based on their intellectual strength and quick-wittedness in answering 26 multiple-choice, fact-based questions. Team A won the competition by a margin of two points over Team B.
At the end of the debate, the Dean distributed symbolic gifts to the winning team, expressing his gratitude for the scientific efforts of the organizing and participating students. He also praised the role of the Anatomy Department in promoting such activities that enhance student understanding and motivate them to grasp their academic materials. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of participating in these initiatives that support the educational journey
