College of Medicine, University of Babylon Holds Faculty Council Meeting The College Council was convened under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallah, Dean of the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, with the attendance of the scientific and administrative assistants, all department heads, and Assistant Professor Dr. Basim Abdul-Aali Abdul, who served as the council secretary. At the beginning of the session, the Dean welcomed the council members and congratulated them on the University’s recent achievement of institutional accreditation, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of the faculty and staff in contributing to this milestone through their dedicated work. In a related context, he praised the efforts of students and faculty members in the ongoing sixth-year standardized exams, noting that the success rates were promising and comparable to those of other medical colleges in Iraq. The Dean also directed the urgent formation of committees responsible for preparing and auditing the competitive examination questions for applicants to postgraduate programs (Higher Diploma, Master’s, and PhD). He assigned the scientific assistant to oversee this process in accordance with ministerial directives and the admission plan for the 2025–2026 academic year. Additionally, the meeting reaffirmed previous discussions from the last council session regarding directives from the esteemed University Council. These included: • Supporting students and monitoring their academic progress. • Supporting and regularly visiting student dormitories. • Encouraging interdisciplinary academic cooperation both within the university and with national and international institutions. The session concluded with a series of additional recommendations and directives aimed at enhancing various aspects of the educational process.
