Babylon Medical Students Undergo Final Practical Surgery Examination
The final clinical surgery examination for sixth-year students at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, was conducted in the private wing wards of Al-Hilla Teaching Hospital. The exam was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallal, the President of Sumo University, Professor Dr. Amer Abdullah Ajrash, faculty members of the surgery department, and surgeon from the Babylon Health Directorate.
The exam included slide-based stations covering neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, radiology and emergency cases. It also included the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), which involved multiple stations to assess students’ skills in general surgery, clinical examination, and more. Additionally, the long case exam featured a variety of surgical questions, requiring students to take a detailed patient history, present the case to the examiner, perform a clinical examination, and discuss the patient’s condition, complications, diagnostic process, necessary investigations, and treatment options.
The examinations were conducted smoothly and efficiently, without any reported issues.
The Dean, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallah, praised the efforts of the hospital director, Dr. Salah Mahdi Jaddou, for facilitating all procedures and providing access to the wards and clinical cases needed for the students’ examinations.
