Medical Students at the University of Babylon Sit for the End-of-Course Surgery Exam
The end-of-course clinical examination for sixth-stage medical students in the subject of surgery was held in the private wing wards of Al-Hilla Teaching Hospital.
The exam was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbass Al-Shalah, the President of SOMO University, Prof. Dr. Amer Abdullah Ajrash, as well as faculty members of the surgery department, physicians from the Babil Health Directorate, teaching assistants, and senior resident doctors.
The examination included slides covering neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, and radiology, in addition to the OSCE exam, which consisted of several stations designed to test students’ skills in general surgery, clinical examination, and other areas. It also included a long case in which students were required to take a detailed medical history, present the case to the examiner, perform a clinical examination, and discuss the case, its complications, diagnostic methods, required investigations, and treatment options.
The examinations proceeded smoothly and without any notable problems.
For his part, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbass Al-Shalah, praised the efforts of the hospital administration in facilitating all procedures and providing the necessary wards and clinical cases for the students’ examination.
