A Delegation from the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon Participates in the Academic Accreditation Symposium at Al-Mustaqbal University
Based on the cooperation agreement signed between the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon and the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University, a delegation from the University of Babylon’s College of Medicine participated in the expanded scientific symposium organized by the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University, titled “Programmatic Academic Accreditation for Colleges of Medicine: Standards and Mechanisms of Implementation.”
The delegation consisted of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallah, Prof. Dr. Adel Hassan Al-Hindawi, and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Kadhim Al-Saadi.
The symposium was attended by the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi; the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbass Al-Shalah; the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Walaa Luay Al-Fallouji; in addition to faculty members from the medical colleges in Babylon Province—including Babylon, Al-Mustaqbal, and Hammurabi.
The presenters, who are members of the National Council for Academic Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq—Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Kadhim and Prof. Dr. Adel Hassan Al-Hindawi from the University of Babylon—delivered a detailed review of the most important global standards used for evaluating medical programs. Their presentation emphasized institutional and programmatic quality requirements and the role of medical colleges in enhancing the educational level in line with international accreditation standards.
The symposium also covered several key topics, including an introduction to the concept of programmatic academic accreditation and its importance in developing medical colleges; a review of academic quality standards and the requirements for meeting them; mechanisms for improving the educational environment; and raising the efficiency of students and faculty members. It also addressed the steps for preparing academic programs according to the requirements of specialized accreditation bodies. A dynamic discussion followed on how to implement accreditation standards and elevate academic performance to strengthen the college’s reputation locally and internationally.
At the end of the symposium, certificates of participation were distributed by the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon to the attendees. The Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University extended his gratitude and appreciation to the guests, speakers, and audience, affirming the college’s commitment to continuing scientific activities that promote a culture of quality and establish the principles of academic accreditation in medical education—serving the healthcare environment and achieving the highest levels of comprehensive scientific quality
