College of Medicine at the University of Babylon Holds Its College Council Meeting The College Council convened under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbass Al-Shalah, Dean of the College of Medicine, and in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, all department heads, Prof. Dr. Nasser Jawad Hamid Al-Mukhtar as the faculty representative, and Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Aali Abdul as the Council Secretary. The meeting began with the Dean welcoming the members and wishing them continued success in their assigned duties. The Council then discussed a series of directives issued by the esteemed University Council, which emphasized preparations for the central graduation ceremony to be held on campus, scheduled for either the end of the current month or the beginning of the next, to celebrate and honor the top graduates of the 2024–2025 academic year. The discussion focused on preparing all logistical and technical requirements to ensure the success of this ceremony. The Council also stressed the importance of full readiness for the final examinations of the current semester, including the preparation of examination questions in accordance with approved examination regulations, and the completion of all remaining tasks of last year’s examination committee. The Council further discussed the need to encourage faculty members to participate in international academic bodies to enhance the academic reputation of the College and the University. Emphasis was also placed on elevating the scientific and practical quality of research outputs and coordinating with relevant government institutions to address societal challenges through joint solutions. Additionally, the Council highlighted the importance of documenting all workshops, seminars, and conferences held inside and outside the College, as well as recording achievements and accomplishments attained during the previous period—such as the College’s attainment of academic accreditation—which collectively contribute to strengthening the reputation and standing of both the College and the University. The Council then hosted Prof. Dr. Salman Mohammed Salman, Chair of the College’s Subcommittee for Academic Promotions, to discuss several completed promotion files for faculty members. Afterwards, the remaining items on the meeting agenda were reviewed and discussed.
