College of Medicine, University of Babylon Holds a College Council Meeting
The Council of the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon held its regular meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shalah, Dean of the College, and in the presence of the Scientific and Administrative Assistant Deans, all Heads of Academic Departments, Prof. Dr. Naseer Jawad Hamad as the representative of the teaching staff, and Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Aali Abdul as the Council Secretary.
At the outset of the meeting, the Dean welcomed the attendees and wished them success in their duties. On his own behalf and on behalf of the Council members, he extended his congratulations to Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Raji Khairallah on the occasion of assuming the position of Head of the Department of Medicine, praising his distinguished academic and professional record. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to Prof. Dr. Najlaa Badr Mohammed, the former Head of the Department, for her efforts and leadership throughout her term.
The Council discussed a number of key directives related to the end-of-first-semester examinations, focusing on:
• Adherence to the applicable regulations and instructions in setting examination questions.
• Urging the newly formed Examination Committee to carry out its tasks with precision, while ensuring completion of all pending matters of the previous committee.
• Preparing invigilation schedules and ensuring the optimal conduct of the educational process.
• Accelerating the completion of continuous assessment marks and submitting them through official minutes from the academic departments.
Within the context of technological development, the Dean announced the college’s full readiness regarding the Student Information System (SIS), noting that all required preliminary data had been uploaded by the academic departments. He emphasized readiness to move to advanced stages of the system in a manner that ensures transparency, accuracy, and the protection of students’ rights.
During the meeting, the Council hosted the representative of the fifth-year students on behalf of the student body. The representative was briefed on the latest recommendations and updates relevant to students, while the Council listened carefully to students’ proposals and inquiries and discussed them in depth. Emphasis was placed on providing all means necessary to achieve academic excellence for students and to ensure the smooth progress of the educational process.
The meeting concluded with discussion of the remaining items on the agenda and the adoption of the appropriate decisions accordingly.
