A joint scientific seminar at the College of Medicine – University of Babylon to promote health awareness and understanding of rabies Under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon, Prof. Dr. Amin Ajil Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, the Departments of Medical Microbiology and Community Medicine held a specialized scientific seminar entitled: “Understanding Rabies: From the Virus to Available Treatments” This seminar was held as a part of activities of the Continuing Education Unit, in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The seminar was attended by the Scientific Assistant Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mohammed Ali Hussein, along with a number of heads of scientific departments, faculty members, and staff. The seminar included valuable lectures delivered by: • Prof. Dr. Ameer Kazem Hassan • Asst. Lect. Samara Abdulhamid Ouda The seminar focused on the scientific and preventive aspects of rabies, including an explanation of the causative virus and its modes of transmission, the role of Community Medicine in limiting the spread of the disease and managing registered cases, and a review of the latest available treatments and essential vaccines for prevention. The seminar primarily targeted faculty members and researchers in the scientific departments, aiming to exchange expertise and strengthen academic health culture in a way that positively reflects on the community.
