The Curriculum Committee at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, Holds Its Third Session to Follow Up Academic Progress Rates
The Curriculum Committee at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, held its third session for the current academic year, chaired by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, and attended by the Scientific and Administrative Vice Deans, a representative of the Babylon Health Directorate, in addition to the rest of the committee members and the student representative.
The committee reviewed the reports submitted by all academic departments, which focused on the rates of completion of the curricula for the first semester, and discussed the key remarks documented in the semester reports to ensure the quality of academic performance.
For his part, the Dean emphasized the necessity of implementing the second-semester curriculum in the best possible manner, stressing the importance of adhering to the scheduled mock (trial) examinations and conducting them on time to enhance students’ competence.
The meeting also included listening to the observations of the student representative on the committee, which centered on the mechanisms of curriculum implementation and the conduct of mid-term examinations, with the aim of addressing any obstacles that may face the academic process.
These periodic meetings come within the framework of ensuring that curricula are aligned with approved standards, and of strengthening cooperation between the College and health institutions in a way that serves the students’ best interests.
