Awareness Seminar on Fungal Infections Affecting Athletes’ Feet
As part of ongoing efforts in awareness, education, and mutual cooperation, a group of faculty members from the Department of Microbiology at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, in collaboration with the Scientific Division of the Babylon Directorate of Youth and Sports, organized an awareness seminar entitled:
“Fungal Infections Affecting Athletes’ Feet.”
The seminar aimed to shed light on infections caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Tinea pedis, commonly known as “athlete’s foot.”
The seminar addressed the symptoms, causes, and prevention methods of these infections, which are particularly common among athletic individuals.
This event comes within the framework of raising awareness among athletes about the importance of foot hygiene and preventive measures to avoid such infections that could negatively affect their sports performance.
At the end of the seminar, Mr. Nael Talib Al-Sarhan, Director of the Babylon Directorate of Youth and Sports, presented a certificate of appreciation to the organizing team in recognition of their active and valuable efforts during the seminar.
