Scientific Seminar on Psychiatric Emergencies at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon
In celebration of University Day, a group of fifth-year students at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, presented a scientific seminar in the psychiatry course titled “Psychiatric Emergencies,” under the supervision of the course instructors Professor Dr. Waleed Aziz Al-Ameedi and Professor Dr. Maytham Al-Yasiri.
The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallah, the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Ashraf Mohammed Ali, the Director of the Continuing Medical Education Unit, Professor Dr. Ilham Abbas Banyan, several department heads, and fifth-year students.
During the seminar:
• Student Mohammed Fares delivered a presentation on suicide.
• Student Rowan Noas presented on drug toxicity.
• Student Mohammed Baqer Hadi discussed substance abuse.
• Student Mohammed Al-Hadi Falah presented on panic attack.
The students emphasized, through their presentations, the importance of psychiatric emergencies in medical practice and how to manage such cases effectively, whether in emergency departments or in public places, aiming to control mortality as quickly as possible.
For his part, the Dean, Dr. Al-Shallah, praised the students’ efforts in addressing such important topics that serve the community and enhance the knowledge and understanding of students, affirming at the same time his full support for these scientific activities and valuable initiatives
