Scientific Workshop on Foot-and-Mouth Disease In accordance with the directives of the President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Ameen Ajeel Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallah, and as part of the ongoing scientific approach adopted by the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, and in strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the College of Medicine, University of Babylon and the College of Medicine, University of Al-Mustaqbal, a group of faculty members from the Department of Microbiology organized a scientific workshop titled “Foot-and-Mouth Disease and Its Impact on Public Health” at the College of Medicine, University of Al-Mustaqbal. The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, University of Al-Mustaqbal, Professor Dr. Walaa Luay Al-Falluji, along with several faculty members and students. The workshop included a comprehensive introduction to the disease, discussing the causes of its emergence, the clinical signs that appear in infected animals, methods of diagnosis, and available treatment options. It also addressed preventive measures against the disease, with particular emphasis on its economic dimensions and impact on public health. This workshop is considered an important step in enhancing awareness and understanding of foot-and-mouth disease and its various effects, thereby contributing to improving the response and management of this public health challenge.
