University President Chairs Meeting at Babylon College of Medicine
The President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Ameen Ajeel Al-Yasiri, chaired an extended meeting with the deans of the medical group colleges to develop short-, medium-, and long-term plans that include updating the curriculum, organizing examinations, and improving infrastructure.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbas Al-Shallal, welcomed the University President and the deans of the medical group colleges, wishing them success in all their assigned duties.
For his part, the University President emphasized that the medical group colleges should be the best among Iraqi universities in terms of laboratories, equipment, infrastructure, and furnishing labs with the most essential modern supplies. He also praised the efforts of the Babylon College of Medicine for obtaining international academic accreditation and for publishing the Babylon Medical Journal, which is indexed in Scopus. He reaffirmed his full support for the medical colleges in general—and for Babylon College of Medicine in particular—by providing them with all necessary medical equipment that aligns with the electronic advancements in medical education and their commitment to implementing all examinations electronically.
He urged the deans to apply for specialized programmatic accreditation by preparing their colleges to meet the required criteria and standards for each specialty.
Dean Dr. Al-Shallal added that Babylon College of Medicine has always been a pioneer in keeping pace with scientific and infrastructural developments, contributing to the provision of an ideal learning environment that meets all the students’ needs, with model lecture halls and well-equipped scientific laboratories from reputable global manufacturers.
At the end of the meeting, the colleges’ needs were discussed, and the deans presented suggestions and strategies to improve infrastructure in a way that serves the goals of the Ministry of Higher Education and the university.
