Medical Journal of Babylon Advances to Q2 Quartile in Scopus Index
Through dedicated efforts and persistent work by the editorial board of the Medical Journal of Babylon, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbas Alshalah, the journal has advanced to the second quartile (Q2) in the Scopus database in its most recent update (June 2025) under the category of General Medicine. The journal’s SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) has risen to 1.3 for the year 2024.
The journal is published by the esteemed international publishing house Wolters Kluwer Health. Since its inclusion in Scopus in 2019, the Medical Journal of Babylon has maintained a strong scientific presence. It is a peer-reviewed, quarterly publication issued by the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, focusing on clinical and basic medical sciences. To date, the journal has published 22 volumes and 86 issues.
According to the latest Scopus statistics (as of May 2025), 624 papers from the journal have been indexed, and these have received 781 citations. As a result, the journal’s CiteScore has increased from 0.9 to 1.4.

The journal welcomes high-quality research submissions from both Iraqi and international scholars within its field
