Medical Student from the University of Babylon Wins First Place in the National Reading Competition
Mohammed Reda Mohammed Taqi, a third-year student at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, won first place in Babil Governorate and fifth place at the national level in the 2025 National Reading Competition “A Nation Reads,” organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and supported by the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain.
The National Reading Competition is a sustainable national cultural project aimed at encouraging members of society to continue purposeful and creative reading that enables them to acquire knowledge and apply it in life, raising awareness of the importance of reading, empowering generations with the keys to innovation, and strengthening their national and humanitarian values. Its slogan is: “We read to learn. We read to work. We read to rise. We read to face challenges.”
Among its objectives are instilling a love of reading in society, creating a conscious generation that is intellectually, ideologically, and ethically well-equipped, and producing a generation of distinguished and creative individuals capable of innovation and excellence in all areas of life, acquiring knowledge, and applying it effectively.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbass Al-Shalah, instructed that a letter of appreciation and commendation be presented to the winning student in recognition of his achievement and first-place award in the competition
