College of Medicine, University of Babylon Holds a College Council Meeting
The College Council convened under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Muhannad Abbass Al-Shalah, Dean of the College of Medicine, with the attendance of the Scientific Assistant Dean, all department heads, and Professor Dr. Basim Abdul-Aali Abd as Secretary of the Council.
The meeting began with the Dean welcoming the new members and extending congratulations to:
• Professor Dr. Qasim Ameer Taj Al-Deen on assuming his duties as Head of the Department of Surgery.
• Professor Dr. Lamees Abdul-Razzaq Abdul-Latif on assuming her duties as Head of the Department of Microbiology.
The Dean also commended the efforts of the Scientific Assistant Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Ashraf Mohammed Ali Hussein, for successfully managing the Department of Microbiology in the previous period, ensuring the department’s needs were met and academic processes proceeded efficiently.
The Council then hosted Professor Dr. Rehab Faisal Lafta, where the Dean expressed his gratitude on the occasion of the completion of her assignment as Head of the Pediatrics Department. He presented her with the Shield of Excellence and Creativity and a Letter of Appreciation on behalf of the Council, acknowledging her exceptional efforts during her tenure.
The Council went on to discuss a number of directives, including those issued by the University Council in its recent session, emphasizing:
• The completion of all committee work previously assigned to academic departments.
• The submission of comprehensive academic development plans by all departments.
• The completion of examination committee procedures to ensure the integrity and proper progress of the educational process.
• The strengthening of scientific research, publication, and participation in scientific conferences to enhance the academic reputation of the College and University.
The Council also hosted Professor Dr. Salman Mohammed Salman, Head of the Subcommittee for Academic Promotions at the College, to present and discuss several completed and pending promotion files for faculty members. The remaining items on the meeting agenda were then reviewed and discussed.
