University President Visits the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon
The President of the University of Babylon, Prof. Dr. Ameen Ajeel Yasser Al-Yaseri, visited the College of Medicine and was received by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abbass Al-Shalah, to review the progress of work within the college.
This visit comes as part of the University of Babylon’s program to develop its academic staff and activate international partnerships. During the visit, the University President met with the Head of the Department of Anatomy and Histology, Prof. Dr. Rana Iyad Ghalib, and the Head of the Department of Microbiology, Prof. Dr. Lamees Abdul-Razzaq. The meeting included discussions on mechanisms to enhance research capacities, develop scientific centers, and strengthen partnerships with British universities in a way that positively reflects on the quality of scientific research and academic outcomes at the university.
During his tour, Dr. Al-Yaseri inspected the postgraduate and tissue culture laboratory of the Department of Pharmacology, where he listened to a detailed explanation from Prof. Dr. Salman Mohammed Salman Al-Khazraji about the key equipment available in the laboratory and its importance in supporting numerous significant research projects for postgraduate students. He then visited the Microbiology Laboratory, observing the equipment that assists students and researchers in completing their scientific work. The visit also included the College’s Animal House, where he emphasized the need to maintain and develop it to serve as an integrated research environment supporting student and researcher projects.
The University President then conducted a field inspection of several ongoing projects at the College of Medicine to assess progress rates and offer suggestions aimed at improving work and accelerating completion. He also stressed the importance of continuous efforts to rehabilitate, maintain, and develop pathways, gardens, and outdoor spaces, as well as strengthening cooperation among the medical group colleges to enhance the quality of services provided to students.
This visit is part of the university’s ongoing initiative to enhance the efficiency of its academic staff and to implement the cooperation frameworks proposed by the University President during his recent visit to British universities, reaffirming his commitment to integrating international standards into the development of education and scientific research at the University of Babylon.
