College of Medicine, University of Babylon Holds an Awareness Seminar on the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism
Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, the College’s Human Rights Unit organized an awareness seminar in conjunction with the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism as and when conducive to terrorism.
The seminar featured scientific and legal perspectives aimed at strengthening social peace and promoting a culture of tolerance. The lectures were delivered by:
• Professor Dr. Haitham Ali Al-Saigh
• Assistant Professor Dr. Reem Raheem Al-Saadi, Head of the College’s Human Rights Unit
The seminar focused on highlighting the risks posed by extremist ideology and on ways to safeguard the university community and young people against violence-inciting rhetoric. It emphasized the vital role of academic institutions in building an informed society that believes in dialogue and respects diversity and acceptance of others.
This activity is part of a series of events organized by the College of Medicine, University of Babylon to enhance cultural and social awareness among students and staff, in line with national and international efforts to reject extremism in all its forms.
