College of Medicine – University of Babylon Holds a Scientific Workshop on Clinical Teaching Methods: Between Realism and Idealism
Under the patronage and attendance of the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Ashraf Mohammed Ali Hussein, and in accordance with the granted authorities, as part of the activities of the Continuing Medical Education Unit, the Department of Pediatrics, in collaboration with the Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled:
“Clinical Teaching Methods: Realism and Idealism”
The workshop was held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Ibn Al-Bitar Hall.

This workshop reflects the College’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
• Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
• Goal 4: Quality Education
• Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals
It aimed to develop the clinical education system and enhance the efficiency of field-based training.

The workshop featured two scientific lectures that addressed both the practical and theoretical aspects of medical education:
• First Lecture: Delivered by Professor Dr. Rehab Faisal Al-Abadi, entitled:
“The adopted policy in the Department of Pediatrics for clinical training of sixth-year students,” highlighting the mechanisms used to prepare final-year students.
• Second Lecture: Delivered by Professor Dr. Adel Hassan Al-Hindawi, entitled:
“Standard Clinical Teaching Methods,” presenting the latest international standards in this field.

The workshop concluded with an open discussion session, moderated by Professor Dr. Adel Hassan Al-Hindawi and Professor Dr. Rehab Faisal Al-Abadi, focusing on:
“Bridging the gap between realism and idealism” in the clinical work environment.
The session included valuable contributions from participating faculty members, aiming to develop practical solutions to the challenges facing clinical medical education.

In his remarks, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, emphasized the continuous support of the College leadership for such activities, which contribute to advancing the scientific and academic standards of the College and improving the quality of its medical graduates.
