The Council of the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon Holds Its Regular Meeting and Discusses Preparations for Final Examinations
The Council of the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon held its regular meeting under the chairmanship of Professor Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, Dean of the College, with the attendance of the Scientific and Administrative Assistants, Heads of Departments, and Professor Basim Abdul-Aali Abdul, Secretary of the Council.
At the beginning of the session, the Dean welcomed the attendees and expressed his appreciation for the exceptional efforts made by the academic and administrative staff in carrying out their assigned responsibilities and advancing the academic standards of the College.
During the meeting, Professor Najlaa Badr Mohammed was hosted on the occasion of the completion of her assignment as Head of the Department of Diseases. The Council presented her with the College Shield and a Letter of Appreciation in recognition of her dedicated service and distinguished contributions throughout her tenure.
The Council also hosted Professor Salman Mohammed Salman, Head of the Subcommittee for Academic Promotions, to discuss several promotion files and matters related to the development of the research track.
In addition, the Council hosted the Director of the Postgraduate Studies Division, Professor Huda Hadi Mohammed, who presented a report on the progress rates of postgraduate students at the research stage, highlighting challenges and discussing mechanisms to address them.
Within the same context, the Council hosted the Director and Rapporteur of the Medical Education Unit, Professor Adel Hassan Al-Hindawi and Professor Mohammed Abdul-Kadhim Hassan, to discuss developmental visions for the unit and to present technical proposals and solutions aimed at enhancing the quality of educational performance. The Dean also directed the scientific departments to intensify seminars and workshops related to continuing education in line with the objectives of modern medical education.
A major focus of the meeting was devoted to preparations for the final examinations, including:
• Preparations for the national evaluative examinations of sixth-year students and final examinations for other academic stages
• Preparation of examination questions and ensuring the technical and logistical readiness of examination halls
• Instructions for hall supervisors and invigilators, with emphasis on strict adherence to ministerial regulations concerning examination misconduct cases, ensuring fairness, academic discipline, and the integrity of the examination process
The Council concluded its session by reviewing the remaining agenda items and issuing the necessary decisions and recommendations to ensure the smooth progress of the educational process in the best possible manner.
