College of Medicine, University of Babylon Celebrates “Sustainable University Day” through a Series of Scientific and Awareness Activities
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon, Professor Amin Ajil Al-Yasiri, and with the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, the College of Medicine organized a series of activities and events in celebration of “Sustainable University Day”, held in the corridors of the Central Library Building of the college.
The event witnessed active participation from the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Ashraf Mohammed Ali Hussein, and the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Samir Suwadi Hammoud, along with a distinguished group of heads of academic departments, faculty members, and a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The activities included several initiatives and programs designed to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These featured exhibitions and awareness activities focusing on the importance of adopting sustainable practices in both academic and daily life, enhancing environmental awareness through programs aimed at promoting a culture of environmental preservation within the university campus, and encouraging community initiatives that strengthen cooperation between students and faculty members in service of society, in alignment with international sustainability standards.
The College Deanship emphasized that this initiative reflects the College of Medicine’s commitment to supporting national and international efforts aimed at building a sustainable future. It also demonstrates the college’s leading role in promoting environmental awareness and transforming theoretical sustainability concepts into practical and tangible actions within the university environment.
The events received notable engagement from participants, who praised the high level of organization and the quality of ideas presented, which contribute to developing students’ skills and directing their energies toward supporting sustainable development in Iraq.
