Sixth-Year Students at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon Sit for the End-of-Course Clinical Examination in Internal Medicine
The Department of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Babylon conducted the end-of-course clinical examination for sixth-year students in the wards of Marjan Teaching Hospital over three consecutive days, in a well-organized setting and a highly professional academic atmosphere.
The examination was supervised and closely followed by the Head of the Department, Professor Hassan Salem Abdul Sada Al-Jumaili, in coordination with the administration of Marjan Medical City, where the Director of Marjan Medical City, Consultant Dr. Fadel Kadhim Al-Sultani, was present throughout the examination period. The examination also witnessed active participation from the Head of the Babylon Scientific Center of the Iraqi Board, Professor Mushtaq Abdul Azeem Watout, along with a distinguished group of department faculty members, physicians from the Babylon Directorate of Health, teaching assistants, and senior resident doctors.
The examination included a comprehensive assessment of students’ clinical competencies through two main components:
OSCE Stations:
Designed to evaluate clinical skills, the ability to manage emergency cases, and the accuracy of physical examination skills
Long Case Examination:
Which involved managing a variety of clinical cases, beginning with detailed history taking, followed by case presentation, and concluding with discussion of diagnosis, complications, and management plans
The examination proceeded smoothly with a high level of organization and without any notable obstacles, reflecting the significant efforts made by all participating parties.
For his part, the Course Coordinator of the Department of Internal Medicine, Professor Nihad Abdullah Al-Jubouri, praised the major role played by the administration of Marjan Teaching Hospital in facilitating procedures, providing an appropriate clinical learning environment, and preparing suitable patient cases, all of which contributed to strengthening the educational process and ensuring the rigor of student assessment.
