Babylon Medicine Organizes a Humanitarian Visit to the Elderly Care Home as Part of Sustainable Development Initiatives
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, and within the framework of university activities related to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, a group of faculty members and students from the college, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, organized a field visit to the elderly care home in the province.
This initiative aimed to achieve several humanitarian and educational objectives, most notably providing psychological and moral support, care, and attention to the elderly, bringing joy and happiness to their hearts, exchanging experiences, and directly interacting with the residents of the home while listening to their inspiring life experiences. The visit also sought to reinforce humanitarian values among medical students and develop their sense of social responsibility as an integral part of their professional preparation as future physicians.
This visit reflects the role of the University of Babylon and the College of Medicine in serving the community, emphasizing that medical care is not limited to physical treatment alone, but also includes psychological and social support, especially for this valued group who have contributed greatly to society.
The participants expressed their pride in this experience, which reflects the spirit of solidarity and compassion, affirming the college’s continued commitment to supporting all segments of society in accordance with the ethical and humanitarian standards of the medical profession.
