College of Medicine Council Holds Its Regular Meeting
The Council of the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon held its regular meeting under the chairmanship of the Dean, Professor Dr. Mohend Abbas Al-Shalah, and in the presence of the Assistant Deans for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, all Heads of Scientific Departments, and the Council Secretary, Professor Dr. Basim Abdul Ali Abdul.
At the outset of the meeting, the Dean welcomed all council members and expressed his wishes for their continued success in carrying out their responsibilities. He also commended the exceptional efforts made by the academic and administrative staff during the examination period, emphasizing that these efforts directly contribute to achieving the highest standards of academic excellence and quality sought by the College.
The Council discussed the ongoing logistical and technical preparations for the upcoming visit of the external examiner, Professor Dr. Riyadh Dihood, who has been assigned to evaluate the comprehensive examination process within the College, as well as to assess the performance indicators of the Central Examination Committee and its affiliated subcommittees.
The Council stressed the importance of providing all necessary requirements and documentation for the conduct of the final clinical examinations. It also highlighted the significance of the visits of external examiners and assessors, emphasizing the need to ensure that outstanding students receive full recognition and fair evaluation in appreciation of their academic efforts and achievements, while maintaining objectivity and accuracy in distinguishing different levels of student performance.
The Council hosted the Rapporteur of the Medical Education Unit, Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Kadhim Hassan, during which several important issues and operational matters related to the Unit were reviewed and discussed, and appropriate decisions and recommendations were adopted to support its development.
As part of its commitment to supporting academic advancement, the Council also hosted the Chairman of the Scientific Promotions Subcommittee, Professor Dr. Salman Mohammed Salman, who presented and discussed a number of academic promotion applications currently under review, with the aim of ensuring their completion in accordance with the applicable ministerial regulations and instructions.
The meeting concluded with the participation of the Director of the Postgraduate Studies Division, Professor Dr. Huda Hadi Mohammed, who presented a detailed report on the second-semester postgraduate students’ results and reviewed the associated academic indicators and outcomes.
