College of Medicine, University of Babylon Holds a Cultural Awareness Seminar Commemorating the Martyrdom of Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq (Peace Be Upon Him)
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, Professor Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, and on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Jaafar al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), the Department of Biochemistry, in cooperation with a group of college students, organized a cultural awareness seminar. The seminar was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Samir Suwadi Hammoud, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Ashraf Mohammed Ali Hussein, along with a number of faculty members and students.
The seminar began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in remembrance of the souls of Iraq’s righteous martyrs.
The seminar included a cultural awareness lecture delivered by Mr. Mohammed Al-Tabatabaei Al-Hakim, in which he highlighted the guidance and recommendations of Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) to young people, emphasizing the importance of seeking knowledge and equipping themselves with learning across various fields. The speaker also reviewed the distinguished status of medical science in Islam, stressing that it represents one of the essential pillars upon which societies progress, citing the well-known statement: “The science of bodies complements the science of religions.”
Mr. Al-Tabatabaei encouraged students to continue their academic journey and to advance the humanitarian profession of medicine in service of society. He also emphasized the importance of ethical values in the life of a medical student, so that they may serve as exemplary models of the educated elite within the community. In addition, he highlighted the importance of developing a well-integrated personality among students and preparing a generation of intellectually and ethically qualified youth capable of playing active and positive roles in society.
