Media University of Babylon - Faculty of Medicine

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Amin Ajeel Al-Yasiri, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, the Department of Anatomy, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Educational Guidance Unit, organized a distinguished cultural festival on Monday, 11 May 2026, in celebration of International Workers’ Day.
The festival featured activities that highlighted the great humanitarian and social significance of this occasion, which is regarded worldwide as a tribute to the working class and an appreciation of their efforts in building societies and advancing the economy. The speeches delivered during the festival emphasized that workers are the “backbone” of the nation and the driving force behind the sectors of industry, agriculture, education, and healthcare. Through their efforts, roads, bridges, hospitals, and schools are built.
The festival also shed special light on the pioneering role of Iraqi women, emphasizing their ability to succeed and excel in various fields, as they serve as doctors, engineers, teachers, and workers across different sectors. The Women’s Affairs Unit at the college called for continued support for working women and for providing a motivating work environment that enables them to continue contributing to nation-building and achieving comprehensive economic development.
At the conclusion of the festival, and as an embodiment of the spirit of generosity and appreciation, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Mohend Abbass Al-Shalah, honored a number of male and female employees of the college.
“This recognition is a simple expression of respect and appreciation for every hand that contributes to serving society and advancing this long-established scientific institution.
